Çanakkale is what Turkish people call Gallipoli, and in ÇANAKKALE. GALLIPOLI. Lest We Forget storyteller/musician Jan ‘Yarn’ Wositzky tells the story from both sides - with Turkish and Australian poetry, song and story.
The show was a hit for 8000 people awaiting the 2003 Dawn Service at Gallipoli. Now for this special intimate performance at Steiglitz, Jan will be joined by a master of Turkish music, Jack Norton, playing oud, saz and baglama.
Using the work of famous Australian and Turkish writers - Eric Bogle, Nazim Hikmet, Ted Egan. Bulent Ecevit, CJ Dennis and Mary Gilmore as well as traditional Turkish songs, 'ÇANAKKALE. GALLIPOLI. Lest We Forget' tells of soldiers from different worlds who shared a living hell, and of their women behind the lines and across the sea who grieved for their men.
