Darebin Greens Council Campaign Launch

Meet our incredible Greens candidates for the October 2020 Darebin Council elections and find out how you can support the campaign to keep Darebin Green!

Our special guest will be Senator Janet Rice plus more to be announced!

Over the last twelve years, Greens on Council have doubled solar power in Darebin, taken world leading action on the climate emergency, and are powering Council buildings with renewable energy.

Your Greens councillors are bold leaders who work in partnership with First Nations communities, LGBTIQ+ communities and Darebin residents from all backgrounds to fight for justice and equality.  They are ensuring that local businesses and the community members doing it tough are supported through the largest COVID resilience and recovery package of any suburban council at $11.3 million. Council staff have been redeployed to accelerate Rewilding Darebin and implement Green New Deal initiatives at the local level.

Here are your candidates who will continue this work, ensuring Darebin Council responds, listens and delivers through one of the hardest periods this city has ever faced.

  • Dave Lee for North East Ward (Reservoir, Bundoora, Kingsbury, Macleod)
  • Alec Wilmot for North West Ward (Reservoir and Keon Park)
  • Monique Keel for North Central Ward (East Reservoir and Reservoir)
  • Susanne Newton for West Ward (West Preston and Reservoir)
  • Esther Kennedy for Central Ward (Central Preston and East Preston)
  • Julie O'Brien for South East Ward (South East Preston, East Thornbury, East Northcote, Fairfield and Alphington)
  • Trent McCarthy for South West Ward (Northcote West, Thornbury West and Preston West)

You'll hear from our candidates, Councillors and other special guests about their vision for Darebin and how YOU can help us elect the Greens councillors to keep Darebin the most progressive council in the country.

There will be an opportunity to donate and supercharge our campaign — with just five weeks until ballots go out we'll be asking you to open your wallets to help us get over the line.
