March for the Murdered Million – Melbourne

See the Facebook event here.

Please join us on Sunday 24 July to honour all the greyhounds who have been bred, exploited and then discarded by the racing industry. This is also a good chance for you to show your support for VIC to follow NSW and #EndGreyhoundRacing so that the slaughter of healthy greyhounds year after year will stop.

11:00am – Rally commences on steps of Parliament House for several 3 minute speeches. Our MC for the day will be the wonderful Ron Prasad.

Speakers are:

•   Eleonora Gullone, Founder Coalition for the Protection of Greyhounds.
•   Glenys Oogjes, Animals Australia
•   Sue Pennicuik, Greens MP
•   Mr Bruce Poon, Convenor, Animal Justice Party
•   Brian Murray, Gumtree Greys

11:20am – Walk to Fitzroy Gardens and around the Fitzroy Gardens.
11:55am – Back at Parliament House for a minute of silence and closing speech.
12:10pm – Close.

Please wear black as a mark of respect for all the greyhounds who never made it out of the industry and for all of the small animals who have been live baited. If you want to wear a black anti-racing shirt, you can order these from Gone Are The Dogs - speaking up for Greyhounds or Companions Not Commodities.

Hounds welcome. Please note that there may be a lot of cars and pedestrians around (some of whom may want to interact with your dogs), so if your dog does not like events it may be kinder to leave them at home.

The #MarchForTheMurderedMillion is an international event originally conceived by CAGED northwest. There are events in every major Australian city - please see the pinned post on Shut It Down - A National Day of Action for more information.
