Join the Moreland Greens for a virtual screening of '2040', lead by a discussion with former mayor of Moreland, Natalie Abboud. This screening is a fundraiser to support getting our Greens candidates elected to Moreland City Council so they can push for progressive values around the environment and social issues that matter to us most.
In '2040' award-winning director Damon Gameau (That Sugar Film) embarks on a journey to explore what the future could look like by the year 2040 if we simply embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet and shifted them rapidly into the mainstream. An uplifting and hopeful look to the future, Gameau made this documentary for his daughter, inspired by the younger generations' optimism and hope for change. We'll also hear from Natalie Abboud about the work that our Greens Councillors in Moreland have done to tackle climate change and the aims of our new council candidates in enacting positive environmental change. From organic waste bins to planting trees, local councils have a massive impact on how we deal with a warming climate at a local level.
We acknowledge that this event will be hosted on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin nations and recognise the ongoing displacement, violence and discrimination faced by these traditional owners of the land. We wish to keep in mind and stand against this continued process of colonisation in our work, campaigning and advocacy.
