Irish drag queen Panti Bliss and her alter ego Rory O’Neill, team up to fight social injustices in the lead up to Ireland’s Marriage Equality Referendum.

An accidental activist and in her own words ‘a court jester, whose duty is to say the un-sayable', Panti was catapulted from the entertainment fringe into the centre of political turmoil in 2014, when an interview with her on the routine homophobic behaviour of the mainstream media was broadcast on a national current affairs television program, and all the fury of Ireland’s conservative commentators descended. Undaunted, Panti stood up against hatred and ignorance and became a rallying figure in the campaign for same-sex marriage in the traditionally conservative country.

Hilarious, outrageous, heart-warming and inspiring more than a photogenic tear or two, THE QUEEN OF IRELAND is a social justice documentary with a difference, and stars a truly fabulous heroine.
